You can delete your ProSeafarers seafarer account at any time. Before you do, please read this guide. Deleting your account takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
Log into ProSeafarers, click your profile icon, then click Settings:
In the Account section, click Delete my account.
You will go to the Delete my account page. Read the information on this page carefully before you continue.
What Will Be Erased?
When you delete your account, we erase:
Your CV and your profile photo
Copies of your certificates, passports and seaman’s book, including their numbers, issuers and scanned copies
Your sailing history, education, languages and skills
Your contact details, address and messaging channels
Every earlier version of all of the above
There is no waiting period, and we cannot restore anything afterwards.
What Stays?
If you have applied for any jobs, the employer keeps a record that an application was made. Your name and details are removed from it, so the record is anonymous.
Nothing that remains can be traced back to you, and no employer can search for you again.
Download Your Data First
Before you delete your account, you can save a copy of your information. In the Take your data with you section:
Click Download a copy of my data to save your profile information.
If you have a CV on file, you can also download it here.
Note: Once your account is deleted, your data is gone and we cannot send it to you later.
Confirm Deletion
It takes 3 steps to delete your account. Nothing is deleted until the last step.
Step 1: Request a deletion link
In the Confirm your email address box, enter the email address you use for ProSeafarers.
Click the Email me the deletion link button.
You'll see a message telling you to check your inbox. Nothing will be deleted yet.
Step 2: Go to your email
We will send you an email called Confirm you want to delete your account. Click the Delete my account button in the email.
Note: The link expires in 15 minutes and can only be used once.
Step 3: Delete your account permanently
You will go back to ProSeafarers to a page that says This is the last step. If you still want a copy of your CV or data, go back and download them now.
When you are ready, click Delete my account permanently.
You will see a message saying Your account and personal data have been permanently deleted, and you will go back to the ProSeafarers sign-in page.
Troubleshooting
The link has expired. Deletion links only work for 15 minutes. Sign in again, go to Settings > Delete my account, and request a new link.
I didn’t receive the email. Check your spam or junk folder. Make sure you typed the same email address you use to sign in to ProSeafarers.
I changed my mind. If you have not clicked Delete my account permanently, your account has not been deleted. Ignore the email and your account stays as it is.
I received a deletion email i didn’t ask for. Ignore it. Nothing will change unless someone clicks the link and confirms the deletion.
